【摘要】:Limitationsonformaldehydelevelshavebeenestablishedforwoodpanelbuildingproductsmadewithurea-formaldehydeadhesivesandpermanentlyinstalledinhomesorusedascomponentsinkitchencabinetsandsimilarindustrialproducts.ThistestmethodisintendedforuseinconjunctionwiththetestmethodreferencedbyHUD24formanufacturedhousingandbyMinnesotaStatutesforhousingunitsandbuildingmaterials.Thistestmethodprovidesameansoftestingsmallersamplesandreducesthetimerequiredfortesting.Formaldehydeconcentrationlevelsobtainedbythissmall-scalemethodmaydifferfromexpectedinfull-scaleindoorenvironments.Variationsinproductloading,temperature,relativehumidity,andairexchangewillaffectformaldehydeemissionratesandthuslikelyindoorairformaldehydeconcentrations.Thistestmethodrequirestheuseofachamberof0.02to1m3involumetoevaluatetheformaldehydeconcentrationinairusingthefollowingcontrolledconditions:Conditioningofspecimenspriortotesting,Exposedsurfaceareaofthespecimensinthetestchamber,Testchambertemperatureandrelativehumidity,TheQ/Aratio,andAircirculationwithinthechamber.1.1Thistestmethodmeasurestheformaldehydeconcentrationsinairfromwoodproductsunderdefinedtestconditionsoftemperatureandrelativehumidity.Resultsobtainedfromthissmall-scalechambertestmethodareintendedtobecomparabletoresultsobtainedtestinglargerproductsamplesbythelargechambertestmethodforwoodproducts,TestMethodE1333.TheresultsmaybecorrelatedtovaluesobtainedfromTestMethodE1333.ThequantityofformaldehydeinanairsamplefromthesmallchamberisdeterminedbyamodificationofNIOSH3500chromotropicacidtestprocedure.Otheranalyticalproceduresmaybeusedtodeterminethequantityofformaldehydeintheairsampleprovidedthatsuchmethodsgiveresultscomparabletothoseobtainedbyusingthechromotropicacidprocedure.However,thetestresultsandtestreportmustbeproperlyqualifiedandtheanalyticalprocedureemployedmustbeaccuratelydescribed.1.2Thewood-basedpanelproductstobetestedbythistestmethodarecharacteristicallyusedfordifferentapplicationsandaretestedatdifferentrelativeamountsorloadingratiostoreflectdifferentapplications.Thisisatestmethodthatspecifiestestingatvariousloadingratiosfordifferentproducttypes.However,thetestresultsandtestreportmustbeproperlyqualifiedandmustspecifythemake-upairflow,samplesurfacearea,andchambervolume.1.3Idealcandidatesforsmall-scalechambertestingareproductsrelativelyhomogeneousintheirformaldehydereleasecharacteristics.Still,productinhomogeneitiesmustbeconsideredwhenselectingandpreparingsamplesforsmall-scalechambertesting.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsarethestandardvalues.Anyvaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
